Location
Gorway House is situated on a quiet and leafy street in Walsall, but with quick and easy access to the main road and nearby motorway. The original building is an Edwardian house, and although it has been expanded and extended over time it still retains the comfortable atmosphere of being a home. The home has access to a local GP, chiropodist, dentist and opticians, and physiotherapy visits can also be arranged. This is a quiet part of Walsall, and a short stroll down the road is the local cricket club where people often gather on a weekend afternoon.
Building and Facilities
Rooms
Our cosy and attractive rooms are all carpeted with soft furnishings, and decorated to a high standard. They have all the features you would expect to feel safe and comfortable - with individual heating system, call system, and television and telephone points.
All rooms are ensuite, and while most are single, we do have several shared rooms and so can cater for married couples.
We welcome and encourage all our residents to personalise their rooms and make them feel like home.
Dining Room and Lounges
We have two spacious and well-lit lounges with large windows - both have large televisions, and the front lounge is adjacent to the dining room, making it a perfect place to relax after meals. They are full of comfortable chairs and sofas for residents to use.
The second lounge is a quieter space, with a large table for games and jigsaws, a piano, and is often a nice place for residents to spend time with family outside of their rooms. Some of the day-time activities that we have include bingo, crafts, jigsaws, puzzles, and music.
All meals are home cooked in a large professional kitchen, using fresh meat and vegetables.
Residents are given a choice of food at every meal, and we cater for special diets. Individual daily routines are respected.
To access the second floor, a large and easily accessible lift can be used in the entrance hall. Our two manager offices have an open door policy and are easily accessible.
